Our Autumn Porch

Our home is ready for fall! Having a beautiful front porch is really important to me because it's the first thing people see before entering my home. We take a lot of photos here, so I always want it to look cute and seasonal.

Last year, I went for the red/orange/yellow color scheme, so this year I thought I'd try something completely different. I knew I wanted greys, whites, purples, and some gold/beige to keep it from looking too cold.

I found this doormat at Home Goods. It's actually an outdoor runner, but I thought it would be perfect for this space. Don't be afraid to use something that is not labeled "doormat".  There are actually so much more color and design options in the rug section!

I found the medium-size hay bales at Michael's. The pumpkins were just normal orange ones from Kroger. I painted the large ones with a matte acrylic paint and the small ones with white & gold spray paint. The mums are also from Kroger.

I purchased the wreath from TJ Maxx. From my experience, TJ Maxx has the best and cheapest wreaths. I basically fell in love with this one because of the velvety pumpkins, and gold details.

My tips for an autumn porch:

1. Pick a general color scheme.

2. Start with a wreath you love. It's easier to find mums and pumpkins to match the wreath than trying to find a wreath that will match your mums and pumpkins.

4. Use pumpkins that create visual interest. Think different colors, shapes, and sizes.

5. Find a nice neutral doormat that is the right size for your front door. If your doorway is larger, find a mat/rug that is longer.

6. Get creative!  Use metallic spray paint for a pop of glam.
