Back 2 School for Lux

I can't believe Lux has started her last year of preschool! This has always been my favorite time of year since I was a little girl. The new clothes, fresh school supplies, and a whole new routine with new friends and activities.

Something we always did when I was little, was have blueberry muffins for breakfast on the first day of school. While writing this post, I texted my sister, "What do you remember most about back-to-school when we were growing up?" She texted back, "blueberry muffins!". I love carrying that tradition on to my own little family. I can link the recipe below.

There's something so special to me about the first day of school photo. It's a new beginning, a fresh start full of endless possibilities. I love seeing how they grow, and how their interests change. It's a time to reevaluate and reflect.

This year she's in a "kindergarten readiness" preschool class for 4 and 5 year olds. She is going to miss her friends from last year's preschool class, but knows she will make new friends this year too. Goals we have for this school year for her are getting stronger reading skills, writing skills, and good behavior. Haha! Hopefully learn some math, and learn more about Jesus. It is a Christian preschool, so learning about God is a priority for them. They will be singing songs in chapel, reading bible stories, and memorizing scripture. Other goals for this year are to advance in gymnastics class, and hopefully learn how to swim in swimming lessons this winter.

More than New Years, back-to-school time is when I like to set goals and make plans for the year. This is my last year with Lux at home with me before she starts all-day kindergarten next year. I can't help but to wonder if I spent enough quality time with her, taught her enough academically, or instilled Christian values into her life. She is turning 5 next month. When people say it goes by so fast, they are right. I have always loved the saying, "The days are long, but the years are short." It couldn't be more true. Some days I feel like I'm counting down the minutes until it's an acceptable hour to put them to bed. Some days I feel like I blinked and my baby is starting to look like an older girl. Sometimes I look to see if she still has any traces of baby left in her. I admire her perfect soft skin, her tiny teeth, blonde curls (that has still never been trimmed), and her little hands. She still has some baby left in her, but it breaks my heart to see it change and fade away. Lux is such a smart little girl, and I'm so excited to see what this school year brings for her.

  1. Thank you for sharing this informative article with us. Last month when I was looking for Winnipeg volunteer opportunities, I found a Spring Christian Academy. They offered me volunteer opportunities at their academy. So I decided to join their academy and be a part of Christian Preschool Winnipeg. They also celebrate grand Winnipeg Christmas events there. I personally recommend you all working with this preschool.
